Subvolt presents "The Scene" Vol I ft. Final Step Productions, a new concept for the underground scene

On June 12, Club Encore in Bucharest will host the first edition of The Scene, the inaugural event in a new series launched by Subvolt in collaboration with fellow promoters and members of the local underground community. The concept aims to bring together the people, artists, and audiences that make up the underground scene, build bridges between different creative circles, and give audiences a glimpse into the distinct musical tastes of those working behind the scenes.

Each edition of The Scene will follow the same concept: every guest promoter will select an underground band they believe deserves more attention, while Subvolt will pair them with a band that has recently caught our attention, whether they’re already established or just emerging. The result will be a series of unique nights featuring unexpected lineups, surprising combinations, and a different experience every time.

No two events will be the same. From the bands and the tastes of the guest promoters to the venues themselves, every edition will have its own identity and atmosphere.

Volume I ft. Final Step Productions

The series debuts in partnership with Final Step Productions, one of Romania’s best-known metal event promoters, responsible for acclaimed productions such as Metal Gates Festival and Shatter Fest, alongside numerous concerts featuring both renowned international acts and important local artists.

For the first edition on June 12, the stars have aligned for an unexpected pairing. The selected bands are Bongladesh (sludge/doom, Timișoara), chosen by Subvolt, and Recycle Bin (ska-punk, Bucharest), selected by Final Step Productions.

Bongladesh

Subvolt’s choice for this edition, Bongladesh features experienced musicians from Romania’s underground scene, some of whom are also members of Methadone Skies. Although still a relatively new project, this will mark the band’s first-ever live performance in Bucharest.

Blending epic, cinematic soundscapes with sludge, doom, and stoner influences, Bongladesh creates immersive atmospheric performances that completely draw listeners in. Their music unfolds stories of moral panic, subversive activity, and broken loyalties, delivering a live experience that is both powerful and unforgettable. A band that truly shines on stage and leaves a lasting impression from the very first note.

Recycle Bin

Final Step Productions’ pick, Recycle Bin, brings nearly two decades of experience, nostalgia, and undeniable influence within the local scene. Formed in 2007, the ska-punk band has become one of the longest-running and most energetic names in Romanian punk.

With four studio releases to their name — Stupidity Tour (2007), Pokemon & The Bastards (2008), Cronicile din Retardia (2010), and Împărăția Muștelor (2014) — the band has performed on both intimate club stages and major festival stages, sharing the bill with artists such as Guano Apes, Crazy Town, Zdob și Zdub, and many more.
