Subliminal Damage was born from the shared vision of Vlad (guitar), Mircea (bass), and Cosmin (drums) to create immersive landscapes through music and lyrics. Influenced by bands such as Mastodon, Tool, Death, Lamb of God, and Animals as Leaders, the trio developed a progressive metal sound centered around challenging religious dogma, exposing manipulation, and questioning authority.
The band’s members are no strangers to the Romanian music scene. Vlad also performs with Opis Band, the event band of the Iași National Opera, Mircea is a former member of the alternative rock band Aproape Verde, while Cosmin currently plays with the death metal band Open Fire and has previously been part of Rug (black metal) and Blues Warriors (blues rock). All three musicians originally played together in the heavy/thrash metal band Almost in Range.
Subliminal Damage’s music is rooted in progressive metal, characterized by complex rhythmic shifts, expansive compositions that rarely run under seven minutes, and a confrontational lyrical approach. Their songs question widely accepted narratives and social norms, challenging ideas such as consumerism as the purpose of life, conformity as virtue, the illusion of individual freedom within modern labor systems, and religion as a moral authority. Every member contributes to both the songwriting and lyric writing process, resulting in a collaborative sound shaped by each musician’s individual perspective.
